Established in 1997 when Dallas Bar and Legal Aid merged its previously separate pro bono programs, this unique partnership combines the volunteer and fundraising resources of the Dallas Bar Association with the legal aid expertise of Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas. Prisoner Reintegration Project: The Prisoner Reintegration Project is an opportunity for law students from all Delaware Valley law schools to help legally admit former federal prisoners who are working to put their affairs in order. In collaboration with the U.S. Attorney`s Office, Judges Timothy Rice and Felipe Restrepo of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania developed a unique and innovative reintegration program for prisoners called the Supervision To Aid Re-Entry (STAR) program. The STAR program provides assistance to ex-offenders through a 52-week program in which participants report to court twice a month and also work with probation officers. Many participants in the reintegration program have civil law problems that they need help to solve.
