This book provides an introduction to Hong Kong`s legal system. Understanding Hong Kong`s current legal system requires both an understanding of the British origins of much of the laws and legal institutions and the unique developments in Hong Kong in applying the Basic Law under “one country, two systems”. These features of Hong Kong`s legal system are examined in this book, which examines developments over the past two decades or so. This monograph, which provides an overview of Hong Kong`s legal system and constitution, is the first concise and comprehensive guide to topics such as the legislative process in Hong Kong, imported law, literary sources, court structure, interpretation of laws, legal personnel and institutions.
